I will make this short and sour! We purchased this television in late 2004 as did my father. Later that year the bulb burnt therefore we had no TV in the living area and with an almost three year old at the time, that was dreadful. We had to watch TV in our master for 3 weeks because circuit city had nothing available for service for three weeks. With that said, the repair man came out only to tell me the bulb was burnt and he would have to order one even though another location had the bulb in stock! That took an additional two weeks! So, for a total of 5 weeks we were TV watching in the master! The service was also horrible as we held for 45 minutes both calls made to set-up the service and then to check if the bulb came in early. Literally!
Well, once again we are having issues with the TV. There is a purple haze in the lower right corner that isn't going away but growing larger daily. I called to set-up service only to be treated like I am an imbecile female that knows nothing about electronics! They always want you to unplug the TV for thirty seconds and plug it back in, ALWAYS!? Been there did that ALREADY! I demanded that they send someone out ASAP! I was a complete biatch and for the first time ever, it worked! They came out this morning, woohoo! This is one time I enjoyed having the post-preg hormones. The TV is basically frying itself and the repair man said he sees this all the time on this particular TV, he took one look and knew exactly what was going on with it! Of course they have to order the replacement piece which he said was basically getting a brand new TV - that is a good thing I suppose.
My father has also had similar issues with his. Every piece of Sony electronics we have purchased has fried! From our 5.1 surround system that first came out many many years ago, fried after only owning it for a year and a half, to a car stereo and home CD player. PlayStation game system as well.
